International Advisory Committee – Erika Brockmann was a Member of the Bolivian Parliament from 1997 to 2005, representing the Left Revolutionary Movement (Social Democrats), a party to which she has belonged for 30 years. She was the fourth female senator in the country’s history. Ms. Brockmann also presided over the Senate’s Decentralization and Local Development Committee for five years, during which time she promoted the formation of the first commission for parliamentary ethics in the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies. From 2002 to 2004, Ms. Brockmann proposed important legislative initiatives on the issues of gender equality and constitutional reform. More recently, she has retired from her party and participated in the Council of the PRISMA Institute.

Ms. Brockmann serves as a political analyst in various academic circles and has authored columns for several important newspapers. She has led inter-party events and is often sought out to speak at national and international forums. Ms. Brockmann is the Founder of the Gregoria Apaza Center for the Promotion of Women, where she currently sits on the board. She also served as an honorary member of the National Tribunal of Ethical Journalism from 2016 to 2018, and, in October 2007, she was awarded the Democratic Merit Award for her contributions to democracy during her 25-year political career. A psychologist by training, Ms. Brockmann completed her graduate studies in gender and development, political science, and democracy studies.
