Jorge Mariscal
International Advisory Committee – Jorge Mariscal is an experienced Chief Investment Officer with over 18 years of experience in international financial markets. He has served in senior positions on Wall Street and has extensive experience in building and managing top-ranked research teams and advising emerging markets portfolio managers. Jorge was Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer for Emerging Economies at the UBS Financial Group in New York. While at UBS, he was also a voting member of the Global Investment Committee of Wealth Management overseeing $2.3 trillion in discretionary and advisory funds.
Before joining UBS, Jorge was one of the founding members and Head of Investment Strategies at the Rohatyn Group, a multi-million-dollar investment management group in New York focused globally on emerging economies. He was also Administrative Director for Goldman Sachs, where he coordinated the research product for emerging economies as Head of Profitability Strategies in Latin America. From 1992 to 2001, he and his team at Goldman Sachs were frequently named to the prestigious “Institutional Investor Latin American Research Team” as well as other similar polls. While at Goldman Sachs, he also founded and directed the Latin American Equity Research Group, which provided research on Latin American equities.
Jorge has a BA in Economics from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Unidad Iztapalapa, Mexico City and a PhD in Economics from New York University. He is a board member of the Mexican Cultural Institute of New York and a board member of the East Coast chapter of the U.S.-Mexico Chamber of Commerce. Currently, Jorge is a professor at the Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), where he teaches the course Emerging Financial Markets.
