Enrique García
International Advisory Committee – L. Enrique García R. served as President of CAF-Development Bank of Latin America for 26 years (1991-2017). He held several managerial positions for 17 years at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), including Treasurer of the institution. In government, he served as Minister of Planning and Coordination of Bolivia, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning, and member of the Board of the Central Bank of Bolivia.
He is currently the Chairman of the Boards of the RIAL-Council on Foreign Relations of Latin America and the Caribbean and the Trust for the Americas, Co-President of the Ibero-American Council for Productivity and Competitiveness (CIPYC), and Co-Chair of the Emerging Markets Forum. In Bolivia, he is Vice Chairman of Banco BISA, Grupo Financiero BISA, Solydes, and Universidad Privada Boliviana (UPB). In addition, he is a member of several boards and advisory councils at the international level.
Mr. García is a visiting professor and/or lecturer at the Universidade de São Paulo (USP), the London School of Economics (LSE), and Beijing Normal University. He is a member of the Bolivian Academy of Economic Sciences and of the Science and Technology Council of the Bolivian Academy of Sciences.
He has been decorated by several governments and awarded honorary doctorates and distinctions from international universities, public and private entities, and media organizations.
Mr. García holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Economics and a Master of Arts (MA) in Economics and Finance from St. Louis University in the United States. He completed additional post-graduate studies in development economics at American University in Washington, DC.
