Amparo Mercader
International Advisory Committee Vice Chair – Amparo is a tax partner with PwC’s Transfer Pricing practice based in Washington, DC. She has over twenty years of experience consulting for large multinationals on their global operating models, helping design their international cross-border arrangements.
Amparo’s expertise is in establishing intangible property strategies, particularly as part of the post-acquisition integration, as well as treasury and financial operations. She also advises clients on the interaction of their operating models with customs and other direct and indirect taxes that may impact their global supply chains.
Amparo serves as PwC US’ transfer pricing leader for foreign owned companies operating in the US. She has successfully negotiated Advanced Pricing Agreements with multiple governments on behalf of her clients, helping multinational corporations manage their global supply chains and tax risks.
Amparo has written a number of articles in technical journals, has contributed to books and publications and is a frequent speaker at specialized tax, policy, and business events. She currently serves in the PwC editorial board where she helps establish a strategic lens for PwC’s content, developing content and working alongside media partners.
Amparo studied economics at the University of Uruguay and holds a MBA from Georgetown University focused on finance and international relations. She is fluent in English and Spanish and is working on her Portuguese.
