International Advisory Committee – Anibal Romero is an attorney and founder of The Romero Firm, an immigration firm specializing in immigration issues relevant to the undocumented population in the United States. His dedication as a lawyer in his own firm has led him to expand his practice through multiple U.S. cities, currently in Newark, NJ; Jackson Heights, NY; New York, NY; Houston, TX; and Falls Church, VA. In addition to, and while growing his law practice, he volunteered as an immigration counselor at the Ecuadorean Consulates in New York and New Jersey. Romero’s dedication to helping the immigrant population throughout the U.S. has led him to develop an educational series for immigrants seeking relief, reassurance, and justice. Romero has built a loyal following on social media, with over 200,000 followers who regularly tune into his online seminars. During these important sessions, Romero helps educate immigrants on essential issues such as workers’ rights, asylum claims, and removal hearings.

Romero started his career as a United States Probation Officer in Albany, New York. He then became an attorney and associate at the law firm of Dewey & LeBoeuf in New York City until 2009, when he founded his own firm. Romero was educated at the Catholic University of Santiago in Guayaquil, Ecuador, before going on to receive his bachelor’s degree at the State University of New York at Buffalo and a Master’s in Criminology from the State University of New York at Albany. Finally, he was awarded his J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law in Newark, NJ, in 2006. Romero has been widely quoted in dozens of publications including the Washington Post, The New York Times, Bloomberg, AP, and USA Today. He has appeared regularly on NBC, CNN, MSNBC, Univision, and Telemundo; and along with his clients, has been profiled on CNN, NBC, ABC, and CBS. CNN won a prestigious Peabody Award for their documentary series, The Hidden Workforce, which included a seminar segment on the Trump Organization employees, whom he represented. Romero’s clients’ personal and legal challenges were also featured in a Spanish-language Univision documentary, The Secret of Trump’s Housekeepers, which was nominated for an Emmy Award for outstanding investigative journalism.
