Global Americans and the Canadian Council for the Americas present “Two Gringos with Questions,” an interview series featuring political and cultural leaders from across the Americas.
In this new season, hosts Chris Sabatini and Ken Frankel will speak with players outside of the usual U.S.-Latin American sphere. With Chris across the pond at Chatham House, interviews will focus more on the relationship between the Americas and Europe, or less discussed partners like India.
For the second episode, Chris and Ken cross the Atlantic and speak to German Ambassador Marian Schuegraf, Director of the German Federal Foreign Office for Latin America and the Caribbean, about the decline of multilateral organizations and Germany’s “modern approach” to relations with Latin America—driven by shared interests rather than a generalized regional policy.
Ambassador Marian Schuegraf has been working at Germany’s Federal Foreign Office since 1992. Ambassador Schuegraf has also served as Head of Division for Public Relations (EU policy), Deputy Head of Personnel, Deputy Head of Personnel Development and Planning for the Higher Service, Head of Press Department at the German Embassy in New Delhi, Head of East Africa Division as well as the Deputy Head of Mission at the German Embassy in Teheran. Ambassador Schuegraf studied law in Germany and France.
